Care & Provenance.
How to care for the rarest fibres on earth, and the registry that follows every piece.
I. Cashmere
Brush. Rest. Never wash by machine.
After each wear, hang on a wide wooden hanger and allow to rest twenty-four hours. Brush with a horsehair brush along the grain. For a stain, a damp cloth and patience. Dry-clean only with a specialist who handles cashmere - never a high-street chain.
II. Vicuña
Treat as you would a fine wool - with greater reverence.
Vicuña sheds little and resists soiling by nature. Brush very gently with a kid-leather brush. Never expose to direct heat or sunlight for prolonged periods. Send to our atelier for any restoration - vicuña requires a specialist's hand.
III. Silk
Hand-wash in cold water with a neutral soap.
Lyon silk responds to gentleness. Hand-wash in cold water with a wool-friendly soap, lay flat to dry on a white towel away from sunlight. Iron on the reverse, on the lowest silk setting, with a pressing cloth between the iron and the fabric.
IV. 18-karat gold
A soft cloth, and warm water.
The Origin Cuff and other gold pieces require nothing more than a soft, lint-free cloth and occasional warm water with mild soap. Avoid harsh chemicals and ultrasonic cleaners. The hand-hammered finish patinas with wear - this is desired.
V. Leather
Beeswax, twice a year.
Tuscan full-grain leather darkens beautifully with age. Twice a year, a thin coat of beeswax cream applied with a soft cloth and buffed gently restores the edge paint and protects the surface. Avoid water; if caught in rain, blot dry and allow to rest.
VI. The Registry
Every piece is numbered, named, and known.
On the inner label of every Woven Origin piece, a six-character registry number. This number is held in the maison archive, against the name of its first owner, the date of purchase, and the master craftsman who finished it. Should you transfer the piece, the registry transfers with it - write to [email protected] with the new owner's name.
